Under the sun soaked skies of the South African summer, Camp GAO (Girls Adventure Overnight), a division of Gan Yisrael Joburg, has just concluded an action packed and deeply inspiring season for high school aged girls from across the country.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Hout Bay, Cape Town, the overnight camp blended high energy adventure including ATV rides, scenic hikes, speed boating, and beach days with meaningful Jewish growth and vibrant Chassidishe living.
The camp is directed by Rabbi Pini and Rochie Pink, with Rabbi Reuven and Rishi Finkelstein serving as camp rabbi and rebbetzin. A dedicated head staff team of Chana Stall, Chani Mendelsohn, Mussi Azimov, and Fayga Mangel brought leadership, warmth, and heart to every moment of camp life.
Spiritual highlights included daily shiurim and learning sessions, a powerful Hey Teves farbrengen with Rabbi Oshy Deren, uplifting Shabbos farbrengens with Morah Rochie, and Friday mivtzoim in partnership with the Cape Mitzvah Society.
More than just a summer camp, GAO was about living and breathing the Rebbe’s message all day, every day, making this South African summer one the campers will carry with them long after the season ends.
