The recently concluded 17th Annual Jewish Girls Winter Retreat, tailored for girls ages 7-14, was an extraordinary celebration of growth, unity, and the nurturing of trust in Hashem. Over four inspiring days, the retreat integrated the theme Build Bitachon into workshops, discussions, performing arts, and various engaging activities and games designed to foster trust and deepen their connection with Hashem.
The dedicated staff included Rabbi Avraham and Nechama Laber, Chana Laber, Shaina Laber, Raizel Laber, Rivkah Laber, Hinda Katzen, Elka Sobel, Raizel Rivkin and Essie Strasberg and enthusiastic campers shared in the exploration of the GROW Method of Prayer, sang and danced to songs in the Build Bitachon Songbook, enjoyed outings, and concluded with a Build Bitachon Banquet where each girl spoke about the theme.
Inspiration Behind Build Bitachon Workshops – Rabbi Azriel Wasserman, ob”m
At the heart of the Build Bitachon theme lies the inspiration drawn from the teachings of Rabbi Azriel Wasserman ob”m, father of JGR director Nechama Dina Laber. In commemoration of Rabbi Wasserman’s 76th birthday on Monday, 5 Shevat, the Build Bitachon Toolbox is being launched. This collection of resources is dedicated to guiding children and adults on the transformative journey of building Bitachon.
“My father didn’t only teach these lessons; he lived them while facing his own challenges. Building Bitachon is a lifelong endeavor for both adults and children, and this toolbox offers valuable resources for teachers and students, as well as parents and children. Some of the tools were imparted to me by my father during my childhood. Other lessons are drawn from his classes at Machon Chana, which were shared by Dobra Spinner,” says Nechama Dina.
Now, more than ever, there is a pressing need for practical and creative resources that cultivate trust. Mrs. Leah Namdar, Shlucha, and Director of the Tzeirei Hashluchim camp in Sweden, affirms, ”Nechama is a creative genius, and her ideas will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations to come.”
