Only because it was a Sunday and religious lessons were being held, were Tzivos Hashem in the UK able to come to Eton College and perform the four mitzvos of Purim and put on Tefillin with the students.
This is the second year that Megillas Esther has been read in Eton, traditionally referred to as “the chief nurse of England’s statesmen” and described as the most famous public school in the world.
“The students who are very proper, went “ad deloi yoda” – not with alcohol but with banging Haman and letting go in the Purim spirit, which is something unheard of in the Eton,” Shliach Rabbi Yossi Simon told COLlive.com.
Rabbi Simon and his children arrived dressed in costume and had some hats and costumes available for the students who are regularly seen in black and white uniform.
“Several students commented how much they enjoyed the family atmosphere with the children around the room in fancy dress,” Rabbi Simon added.
