What better way to begin the year than with a Brazil Travel Camp Shabbaton on Shabbos Bereishis? Campers who attended this past summer’s program flew in from across the country and gathered at Chabad of South Brunswick, New Jersey, graciously hosted by Rabbi and Mrs. Azimov, for a weekend overflowing with laughter, growth, and that special camp spirit everyone had been missing since July.
Friday began with the girls’ arrival — excitement filled the air as friends reunited from near and far. As the candles were lit and girls gathered together the room was filled with a beautiful sense of peace and unity.
The girls sang a lively and heartfelt Kabbalas Shabbos and played games together, bringing that unmistakable camp energy to the evening. The Friday night meal was filled with singing, divrei Torah, and joyful conversation. Later that night, a heartfelt farbrengen with Mrs. Azimov and the counselors inspired everyone and set an uplifting tone for the rest of the Shabbos.
Shabbos day began with Tehillim, where each girl received her own Sefer Tehillim — a treasured keepsake that made the moment deeply personal and meaningful. After Shacharis and Kiddush, the girls enjoyed relaxed games and a refreshing walk together, reconnecting in true camp style.
As the day continued, Mincha, Shalosh Seudos, and a moving Seder Niggunim created an atmosphere of closeness and inspiration. Following Havdalah, the girls watched a Rebbe video and took time to write a pan, channeling the inspiration of the weekend into heartfelt connection.
The Shabbaton concluded with a lively Melave Malka, complete with a waffle bar, ice cream, and moments of reflection — the perfect blend of sweetness and meaning. On the way back to Crown Heights, the group stopped at the Ohel, ending the Shabbaton on a deeply spiritual and uplifting note.
The Shabbaton was a beautiful reminder that the magic of camp doesn’t end with the summer — the friendships, lessons, and inspiration continue to shine throughout the year.
