Just after the “Blizzard of 2010” United Lubavitch Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway held its 6th annual winter Ski camp.
On the cold morning spirits were high as talmidim awaited the 7:15am ULYOP/ Hamasifta bus. The heated bus climbed its way over and through unplowed streets making its way to our home away from home 841 Ocean P’kwy.
After an inspirational/ uplifting davening, day’s Tanya and a hearty breakfast the van was loaded.
By 9:00am we topped off our tank and ventured to our destination, 200 + miles away, visiting Rabbi Abba Ruben of Chabad of Saratoga Springs.
Learning, davening, fabrengens, the bochrim even benefited in receiving a shiur from Rabbi Kaufman, a well known and loved Rebbe in the Satmar yeshiva system from Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Shabbos was spent in the quiet mountains of Saratoga Springs, where the talmidim added much to the small Jewish community. By leading davenings, stories of the Rebbeim and even giving over sichas that talmidim learned in yeshiva.
All and all, once again the talmiddim returned to Yeshiva with renewed energy and excitement for learning. Having the opportunity to use what they have learned so efficiently will only add to their further growth throughout the year in their davening, learning and Middos.
Special thanks to: Rabbi Avraham Abba Rubin, Head staff: Berry Green, The talmidim who prepared laining davening, sichas and stories: Yaakov Elishevich, Netanel Suissa, Moshi Tselash, Elad Jasper and Rabbi Harari for organizing this wonderful winter event for the 6th year in a row.
