Thursday, the first day of Rosh Chodesh Kislev, was celebrated in a chassidishe manner and exciting spirit in the East Flatbush Kindergarten of Oholei Torah.
L’chaim, pesukim, stories and nosh bags were all part of the special rally, led by Morah Faige Winner-Hertzel, Director of the Kindergarten Division.
The Kindergarten building was previously known as the Bnay Abraham Synagogue, where R’ Michoel Teitelbaum a”h, founder of Oholei Torah, kept the shul active for many years. Overcoming the demographic changes, R’ Michoel fought with great mesirus nefesh that the building should continue to a shul and kindergarten division.
After a recent devastating fire, the building was rebuilt, updated and converted into a beautiful campus of young Jewish life.
When others were ready to give up on the building completely, Rabbi Joseph Rosenfeld, Executive Director, hired R’ Yanky Sufrin, of YHS Construction and undertook to rebuild it and turned it into a state of the art facility. R’ Yoseph Yitzchok and Batsheva Popack readily came to assist, and later dedicated the building which is now known as the Popack Kindergarten.
The many other divisions of the Mossad celebrated grand rally’s and farbrengens honoring Rosh Chodesh Kislev, including grand seudas Ho’oda held for the elementary grades.
