When we first heard about this supposedly good restaurant in Boro Park called Bistro 1310, we were skeptical, to say the least. Trendy or classy are not what first comes to mind when describing a store in the 13th Avenue area.
Well, we were in for a surprise. From the minute we stepped through the medieval style wooden door, we felt like we were in a kosher hot spot in Park Slope or Manhattan.
Dim lighting, sleek modern decor and a clean beige color scheme give a sophisticated feeling, and exposed brick walls give it a warm feel. The service is excellent, and the waiters were very polite. The food was served within 10 minutes of our sitting at our table.
The restaurant is cozy, but not crowded, and tables are not piled on top of each other like in some of the other local places, allowing you to actually have a quiet private conversation.
The back of the room has a cute semi-private little alcove partitioned with a beautiful glass waterfall, with a large table for parties of about 10.
The menu has some intriguing dishes such as Macadamia chicken salad with romaine, mango and pineapple; Sesame crusted salmon and jasmine rice and beef ravioli with wild mushroom and garlic cream sauce.
For an appetizer we had a chicken empanada with avocado salad and dipping sauce, which has a Mexican flavor – light with a little kick.
We also started with some sushi, a salmon tempura and a sweetheart roll which is excellent – very light, not too filling, with imitation crab, cooked salmon, avocado, crunch and some amazing special sauce.
As a main course, we opted for the braised short ribs, which are so soft they literally fall off the bone, and we tried the rib-eye skirt steak. Both are incredible, they taste like the best of any good Manhattan Steakhouse.
The only downside to this great meal were the desserts. Don’t get me wrong, the tiramisu and blondie cake with ice cream we had were good but not spectacular as the rest of the meal. I always wondered why many restaurants take dessert so lightly.
All in all, I must say, the experience was more than satisfactory. It was like eating out in the City, minus the parking and traffic hassles.

Please note that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make truly delicious parve desserts without using milk, butter and real cream. That is why cheesecake is so popular! And the parve (Tofutti) cheesecake doesn’t even come a close second.
I have yet to taste divine parve desserts and we have been to many restaurants and events catered by caterers with popular ratings!
Hey all, we would like to thank you for your comments. This is our take on your comments: This was simply a review. It was in no way comparing Bistro 1310 to other establishments and everyone should understand this. I agree, there are a lot of fine places in Boro park and throughout the city but again, this review was based solely on their dining experience here at Bistro. As with all businesses, there are busy and slow periods. Baruch Hashem, we have been doing much better than when we first opened. Our menu is full of flavorful dishes and… Read more »

you write:Trendy or classy are not what first comes to mind when describing a store in the 13th Avenue area.
There are several stores that could be classified as classy on 13th…it sounds a bit biased
