5 Chabad bochurim spent this past year with the Jewish community in Singapore while they learned for their rabbinical ordination.
In addition to assisting Rabbi Mordechai Abgergel with community activities, they studied with Rabbi Netanel Moshe Rivni. They eventually got smicha from Kiryat Malachi Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yaroslavky.
But before leaving the southeast Asian country, the “Yeshiva boys of Singapore 2012” composed a song and filmed a music video as a gift to the community.
It was presented in good humor at a farewell party for them. The lyrics speak about some of their experiences during their time spent in Singapore.
“The boys were extremely successful and the community cannot thank them enough for the amazing work they accomplished throughout the year,” wrote a community member who posted it on YouTube.

completely agree with all that u said. I happen to know some of the bachurim that went to singapore last year and they are amazing, chassidish people. they are doing amazing things. dont judge them like that.

Yes, thankfully they have the desire to spend their time helping Mekarev yidden but I certainly don’t think this is the image of a Shliach the Rebbe wanted to portray. If your Kavana is for the Rebbe please respect the image of a Chosid.

These boys worked extremely hard this year away from their home to change people’s lives! Im sure The community was very touched and thankful after seeing this video… The Rebbe is truly proud of them!! Boyzz. Keep up the amazing work. Alot of CHAYUS and effort was put into this video so why are you all bashing them. The video wasn’t made for you obviously that’s why it’s blocked. We are Proud:) Ps. Although I enjoyed the vid, this is not an article that should be posted on a COL. Besides the fact that in the picture the Buchrim aren’t wearing tzizis? Sunglasses? And look like they tuch their beards, How can “Smicha Buchrim” have time to make such a vid? ( putting aside the fact that try are also doing “shlichos” and helping the cumunity which must take a lot of time). Forgetting about the video for one moment we should not sit here and be bashfull while we sit in the comfort of our closed communities I personally have been to singapore on a stop over in 2010. and can testify that the boys were working nonstop from teaching one on one to giving shiurium and giving tours and learning smicha all in one days work as I am sure THIS group did so let’s just forget about being judgmental and give credit when it is due
These Bochrim spent their entire year devoted to their Shlichus and the community in Singapore. Before you pass judgement on them, how about get to know them first. So as a goodbye to the community they have fun and make a video, There was nothing wrong with the video. what is the big deal? Are Bochrim not allowed to have fun?
As for embarrassing their parents – with all the different things Bochrim get up to nowadays, this group spent the year learning and on Shlichus. Good for them! They’re making us proud!
You cant see the video because some “Shallow people” were passing judgment on these boys ( with their comments) based on a video that was made to be in the spirit of fun. This group- which just finished their Shlichus there had positive impact on the Singapore community. The Bochrim asked for the video to be made private.
I think everyone needs to calm down; get with the times, this is the new generation. You can’t expect the other side to move fast and us jews to remain where we were 30 years ago. That’s just how it goes. And perhaps be a little more positive, at least they’re frum and on Shlichus. It’s not up to you to judge or decided what level they;re on; that’s God’s job.
Fine Bochrim who service a wonderful Jewish kehila with their hard work and devotion. They make a Kiddush Lubavitch/Chabad- year in and year out!

This message really penetrated my soul and reminded me that Judaism can indeed flourish even in the far-out places of east Asia. This is truly amazing.

Why are we celebrating bochurim who use the name of Chabad to have fun and go about doing un-chassidish things? It truly makes me sick that these are the kind of peulahs shluchim are doing nowadays. When I was a bochur you had to work hard and go far away to do such things, now it is right out in the open and no one seems to care. Please, I am making a bakashe to all the worlds bochurim to be chassidish, but if not don’t do it in the Rebbes name.
