A bochur who fell from a light post during the Simchas Beis Hashoeiva celebration in Crown Heights on Wednesday night is expected to make a full recovery.
The 18-year-old bochur from Los Angeles had climbed up a lamp post on Kingston Avenue over the dancing crowd, but soon lost his grip and fell from approximately 10 feet, shocking the crowd below.
Hatzalah quickly arrived and transported him to the hospital unconscious.
On Thursday, his family informed COLlive.com that Baruch Hashem he is now “fully conscious, and while he is bruised, he is alert and is expected to make a full recovery.”
The NYPD has informed that stunts like climbing on light poles or on rooftops, which some teenagers were seen doing during the dancing and celebrating, will not be tolerated and will be punished by law.
“We are informing the public that climbing of any light poles, rooftops or any other structures, is illegal and will be subject to arrest from NYPD,” Detective Mike Baratta of the NYPD 71st Precinct told COLlive.com.
The final night of dancing will take place this evening, beginning with a children’s program at 8:00 PM and dancing at 9:00 PM.
Let us learn from this. Rules are there to protect us. We don’t need a tragedy to remind us.
Correction – he fell from twenty feet not ten feet. Additionally he fell directly on the side of his head. This a miracle of crazy proportions. The Rebbe’s Simcha’s Beis Hashoeva could not result in what could have been C”V a much worse out-come.
This behavior can never be tolerated again! All the Zechus and Simcha of dancing of forty years would not be worth the life of a Yid.
May he have a speedy recovery!
Gut Moed.
It’s disheartening to hear about the boy who climbed up the traffic lights for fun. Safety should always be a top priority, and incidents like these highlight the importance of educating youngsters about the potential risks associated with such activities.
If anyone sees someone doing something so dangerous they must stop them. There is no mitzvah to hang from twenty feet up on street lights by your hands unless your in the circus and have safety mats below you. Kids today need serious drama discipline and stop smoking and vaping dangerous nonsense. Put your emotions and joy into learning Torah at your level.
Please stop mixing in all the things which rub you wrong, we are talking about a specific topic this time
BH there hopefully will be a good ending.
I feel that if there was one (or more )arrest, some of this foolishness would quickly come to an end.
Absolute miracle !

Thanks for clarifying 👍
If you see something say something
If you see dangerous behavior, and feel you will not be listened to, tell shomrim or hatzalah
There was a (jewish) guy stopping people and harrasing them at SBH one night. Shomrim was called, and they “convinced” him to move on
Thank you to our dedicated teams
Or shmira Thay are incredible organization they helped clear path for hatzalah so they could take out the patient
Shomrim and shmira are both amazing organizations
Mordechai ben Tziporah Rachel should have a complete healing quickly.
from the holy land!
