Chabad of the West Coast in Blouberg, a suburb of Cape Town, South Africa, recently held a dedication and ribbon cutting of Moshal Family “Path-Way to Sinai” and the Jameson Family “Bobbeh Esther’s House” at the Blouberg Jewish Community Centre.
The newly purchased property links the Ohel Moshe (Sinai 2) Senior Primary School property with and the original (Sinai 1) property which recently underwent a renovation and has now been dedicated.
The Moshal Family who have been instrumental in every stage of this journey sent their warm wishes to the Blouberg Jewish Community as they were not able to participate in person, though their presence in spirit was palpable.
The afternoon dedication held before Rosh Hashana began with the Shofar blowing in the welcome lobby where. A special guest of honor warmly welcomed was Archie, the resident of the middle property just purchased, and through which the connecting path was opened.
Mrs. Esther and Rabbi Shimon Goldman, whose home in Crown Heights was a virtual “South African Embassy” for countless families from South Africa visiting the court of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, were remembered fondly by Shraga and Leah Jameson who dedicated the newly renovated house to their memory.
The unveiling of their picture at the Rebbe and accompanying plaque, together with their eldest son and daughter-in-law, Rabbi Yossy and Rochel Goldman, was a touching tribute to the love and respect with which they are still so fondly remembered.
The senior Rabbi Goldman’s devotion to the community and charity work, and Bobbeh Esther’s legendary hospitality, and wisdom, served as an inspiration to them, and are proud to be associated with this continuation of their legacy through their granddaughter Zeesy and Rabbi Oshy Deren.
Continuing on “to the future,” the Ribbon Cutting of the Moshal Family Pathway to Sinai, by Chairman Brian Singer and Rabbi Avi Shlomo signaled an opening of the vision for what is soon to come.
On cue, as the ribbon was cut from one end of the “Pathway to Sinai” the gate at the other end of path burst opened with a delightful parade of Sinai learners dancing “Haveinu Shalom Aleichem” as a warm greeting to the guests truly “walking down the path to Sinai.”
There the community heard about the links to the past of the people who inspired the day, and the dreams for the future and the many exciting developments still to come.
Beautiful. Just Beautiful.
