U.S. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (D-NY) has condemned anti-Semitic and xenophobic statements by a bigoted Ukrainian politician on Monday.
In his election campaign, Ukraine Presidential Candidate Sergei Ratushnyak blamed the Holocaust on the Jews, saying they stole German property, and warned of the same thing happening in Ukraine.
He also called his opponent Arseniy Yatsenyuk “an impudent little Jew” and said the former parliament speaker was confusing the January presidential vote in Ukraine with small town elections in Israel.
Following a condemnation letter from Israeli lawmakers, a group of Ukrainians demonstrated outside the Israeli Embassy in Kiev, chanting “Ukraine isn’t the Gaza Strip.”
In a press release Monday sent to COLlive.com, Clarke said she was “concerned” as the U.S. and Ukraine “have formed a strong relationship over the course of the last decade.”
“Ratushnyak’s hateful comment.. harkens back to a dark chapter of Ukraine’s history. I am sure this remark does not adequately represent the sentiments of the people of the Ukraine,” she said.
Clarke represents the 11th Congressional District of Brooklyn, where many of its Jewish residents have roots in the Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
“I join the conscience of the world in condemning Mayor Ratushnyak’s hateful remark,” her statement read.
“I will continue to stand with my counterparts in government and to use my voice as a Member of Congress to oppose prejudice and bigotry whenever, and wherever, it arises.”

Who is he
Does this guy stand a chance at wining?
Nope. I’m in Ukraine and in my city I have not even seen one poster for him. There are three front runners and everyone else is way behind. He is the furthest behind of the behind pack!
Micheal Miller of the JCRC, is another tireless dedicated “Osek B’tzorchei Tzibur.”
PS Malcolm Hoenlein is an often guest on WOR. He represents Klall Yisroel with great dignity.

Thank you Mr. Malcolm Hoenlein for being at the forefront, protecting and fighting for the rights of your people, wherever they are.
It was good reading over Chanuka, about your participation in a meeting with Congresswoman Clarke.
חזקה שאין תעמולה חוזרת ריקם
this does not help her make up for her actions. It is easy for her to say whatever she wants , but when it matters Yvette Clarke voted against Jews and Israel.
We need to be careful.
You can not lump ALL people of that region in one pile.
There are those sick minds that need to be condemned (as the congresswoman and others have done), and the general population that respects and supports their Jewish neighbors.
it is well known that the ukrainians collaborated joyfully with the nazis, they commited the horrible atrocities in babi yar without needing any encouragement from the nazis- YIMACH SHEMOM TO ALL SONEI YISROEL!
yemachshemoy
Unfortunately they are all big anti-semites in that part of the world and they don’t hide it they are proud of it to this day and age. I know first hand from going to the ‘heilige kevorim’ of the BESHT and many others.
Hope to see more.
We hope to see more officials condemn this hatred and anti-Semitism.
Keep up the great work!!!!!!!
