“Bass and Bourbon,” the newest upscale dairy restaurant in New York, will open today.
Bass and Bourbon will offer a gourmet kosher destination in Red Hook, the industrial port section of Brooklyn, right near the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel.
The new restaurant is located at 113 Hamilton Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, and has a seating capacity for 300 people with a full rooftop area with a view of the Manhattan skyline.
Bass and Bourbon is being opened by the people behind the popular Bison and Bourbon Steakhouse – owner Shneur Minsky and chef Lior Hachmon – featuring an elevated menu of fresh fish and pastas.
The menu includes a variety of interesting pizzas such as the Melograno – with Alfredo sauce, Mozzarella, spinach and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, and the Melanzana – with marinara sauce, eggplant, cauliflower, leek and Mozzarella.
The appetizers are beautifully presented, and include stuffed mushrooms with three-cheese spinach topped with marinara, cauliflower with polenta, shaved parmesan, dried craisins and aioli spinach sauce, as well as seared tuna with guacamole, sour dough, jalapeno and tomato salsa.
It also includes pasta with a variety of sauces, and an extensive fish menu including grilled salmon, blackened salmon, pan-seared fillet of dorado, grilled branzino, sea bass, and tuna.
A unique feature of the restaurant is a full in-house Shul, perfect for those holding a bris milah ceremony and have the custom of holding it inside an actual shul. The beautiful Aron Kodesh is the centerpiece of the Shul located at the side of the restaurant.
“We will have a Sefer Torah and a full Shul so that the guests can daven there and then can have breakfast in any one of three areas in the restaurant,” says the resident of Crown Heights.
The restaurant is located right near the tunnel, with millions of cars passing by daily on the way to Manhattan. The building has a legal billboard on its rooftop, and Minsky would not give up the opportunity to make a Kiddush Hashem.
“The billboard will be used to bring a message about Shabbos to the millions who pass by the area,” Minsky says. “We will have Shabbos candle times each week displayed there.”
The restaurant will be opening this evening, by reservation only.
