Popular Crown Heights eatery Basil Pizza and Wine Bar was broken into early Thursday morning.
On Thursday morning owners discovered that the cash register and safe had been broken into and $5,000 in cash had been stolen.
The thieves, who are seen in the restaurant’s security footage, also stole a number of menu iPads.
NYPD is hopeful that they will be able to find out who the individuals are who committed the burglary, a source in the restaurant told COLlive.
“The footage is very clear, and shows a few perps, who were wearing headscarves, but not all of them were wearing gloves,” they said. “The police are hopeful they may find some fingerprints.”
A source said one or more of the thieves, who possibly entered through the basement, may have been a former employee of the eatery since they seemed to know where to access the cash and safe.
The renowned restaurant was open today as usual, with many customers enjoying their popular dishes.
