Your alma mater is turning 80 years old! Feel the Bais Rivkah spirit?
In 1941, Beth Rivkah opened its doors in a small, nondescript storefront in Brooklyn. With just 30 students, it bore little resemblance to the large and thriving educational system that exists today. Yet despite its size, this small institution made history. Never before had a Hasidic girls’ school been established in the United States or abroad.
Fourteen years later, in 1955, the high school division opened its doors, and the higher education division followed in 1960. In the decades since, Beth Rivkah has been the flagship of Lubavitcher girls’ education around the world. The school’s educational model can be found in almost every country with a large Jewish population, and its graduates work and teach in all parts of the world.
Eighty years. Quite an impact.
Were you a student at Bais Rivkah on Snyder Ave? Did you ride the bus to school on Church Ave every day?
Did you sit spellbound in Morah Neiman’s class? Was Morah Heller your role model and confidant? Did you come home and reenact the lessons of Morah Raskin or Morah Korf?
Do you remember when the uniform was introduced? Were you the first official class to walk in proudly wearing pressed blue collars?
Did you help plan those incredible conventions with high schools from all over the world? How many days did you sit in the shul, davening, at assemblies or listening to the speakers? What Bais Rivkah productions have you been a part of?
No matter what year you attended the school, your memories hold a special place in Bais Rivkah history.
