The 6 Avtzon sisters from 3 time zones joined again this week to open their kitchens to their communities doing a second edition of “Sister Do Shabbat” where they cook and provide tips to their communities.
Aired live on Zoom, they shared “secret recipes” from their mother Mrs. Shira Avtzon in honor of Mother’s Day.
Here is what they prepared:

Sweet potato pie by Hesha Avtzon and Menucha Avtzon of Crown Heights
Thai quinoa salad by Mushky Yifrach of Los Angeles, California
Garlic green beans by Runya Wagner of Los Angeles, California
Cinnamon Buns by Nene Schmukler of Corpus, Texas

Their upcoming cooking shows will be on Thursday, May 14, which will have their husbands doing the cooking. The show on Thursday, May 21, will be a dairy edition in honor of Shavuos.
RECIPES:
Brisket – Aidella Blesofsky, Springfield NJ
2 Large Onions
Montreal Steak Spice
Dry Red Wine
Once Onions Are Browned, Put Over The Brisket.
Sautee 2 Large Onions
Using 2nd Cut Brisket, Sprinkle Genrously
With Kosher Salt, Black Pepper &
Montreal Steak Spice.
– Fresh Parsey, Dill, And Garlic Can Be Added
For Extra Flavor.
– Top With Generous Amount Of Dry Red Wine
Bake Covered For 250 – 275 For 5 Hours
Garlic Green Beans – Runya Wagner – Usc, California
Green Beans
Fresh Garlic
Soy Sauce
Oil For Sauteing
Boil Water And Add Green Beans
– Blanche For 3-5 Minutes
When They Turn Bright Green They Are Ready
Using Equal Amounts Of Soy And Oil
First Saute Fresh Garlic In The Oil And Once Browned, Add Soy Sauce To The Pan And Let It Cook For A Few Minutes.
Pour Over The Green Beans
Sweet Potato Pie – Hesha And Menucha – Brooklyn, Ny
2 Cups Mashed Sweet Potato
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1/2 Tsp Salt
1/2 Cup Light Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Non Dairy Creamer
2 Tbsp Oil
3 Eggs
1 Graham Cracker Pie Crust
Frosting
8 Oz Whip/Non Dairy Creamer
Cinnamon
Boil Up Sweet Potatoes Until Soft
Add All The Ingredients And Mix Together
Pour Into Graham Cracker Crust
Bake 350 For 1 Hr
Let Cool
Whip 1 Cup Non Dairy Creamer/Whip At High Speed Until Firm
Spread Over Cooled Pie
Sprinkle Cinnamon For Pretty Effect
Thai Quinoa Salad – Mushky Yiftach – Lost Angeles, Ca
1 1/2 Cups Dry Quinoa
3 Cups Water
1 Jalepeno Pepper – Seeded And Minced
6 Leaves Fresh Basil- Finely Chopped
3 Sprigs Fresh Cilantro – Leaves Gently Torn
1/3 Cup Minced Red Onion
1/2 Firm Mango – Peeled, Pitted And Diced
2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Lime Juice
Sea Salt To Taste
Rinse Quinoa And Cook Per Instructions
In A Separate Bowl Combine Salad Ingredients
Mix Salad Dressing And Drizzle In
Add Drained Quinoa And Toss To Combine
Serve Warm Or Room Temperature
Cinnamon Buns – Nene Schmukler – Corpus, Texas
2 3/4 Cups Flour
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp Salt
2 1/4 Tsp Yeast (One Packet)
1/2 Almond Milk
1/4 Cup Water
3 Tbsp Unsalted Butter / Margarine
1 Egg
Filling:
3 Tbsp Butter / /Margarine
(Softened To Room Temperature)
1 Tbsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Sugar / Brown Sugar
(Alternatively You Can Sub With Oil)
Icing:
1 Cup Confectioners’ Sugar
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
2-3 Tbsp Almond Milk
(Non Dairy Cream Cheese)
Round Baking Pan (Not Necessary)
Mix Together Flour, Sugar, Salt, Yeast
In A Heatproof Bowl, Heat Up Milk, Water And Butter
Add Into Flour Mixture And Lightly Mix
Add Egg And Mix Until Dough Forms
Knead For 3 Minutes
Place Dough In Bowl And Let Rise 1o Minutes
While Rising, In A Small Bowl Mix Together
Sugar And Cinnamon For Filling
Roll Out Dough On Floured Surface / Baking Sheet
Into A 12×16 Rectangle
Spread The Room Temperature Butter Onto The Dough.
Sprinkle The Filling Mixture All Over The Buttered Dough
(If You Would Like To Skip The Butter, Add Oil To Cinnamon Mixture To Create A Paste And Spread Onto The Rolled Dough)
– Start Rolling Your Dough Into A Tight Jelly Roll Until Rolled
Cut Roll Into 10-12 Pieces
Place Rolls In A Round Pan (Or Any Baking Sheet)
– Let Rise 1 – 1/2 Hours
Bake 350 – 375 For 25- 28 Minutes (Until Tops Start To Brown)
Prepare Frosting
For A Thicker Frosting Add Cream And 2 More Cups Of Confectioner’s Sugar To Frosting Recipe
Frost When Warm!
