The seder in Lubavitch always was and still is that there is a vaad that picks the Yud alef nison nigun and almost every year (besides for only once by shir mizmor livnei koirach) that was the nigun the Rebbe was meoided the whole year
also by shuvah a different nigun was picked than the one that was song by the rebbe
I thought the vaad chose R’ Kuti Feldman’s niggun.
