Since the onset of the war, Chabad of Ashkelon has stepped up for the needs of the city’s 150,000 residents. With 50,000 community members evacuating, we are here supporting the 100,000 residents who have remained. We are constantly in distress.
With fathers out at war and kids home from school, here is what Chabad of Ashkelon is doing for our community:

1. Assisting Soldiers with Equipment:
Initially, the situation was chaotic as soldiers arrived without proper equipment and sometimes lacked essential food supplies. We organized and provided everything they needed. We continue supporting these soldiers during their breaks from fighting on the front-lines. We supply them with items like meat, pizza, and other requested treats, along with spiritual support, including tzitzis and tefillin.
2. Assisting with Shopping and Medications for Homebound Individuals:
Our focus extends to helping those at home, especially women whose husbands are out fighting and have young children at home. These women can’t leave their homes and children unattended, requiring assistance with essential items.
3. Helping with Housing Accommodations:
Many families have reached a breaking point due to trauma and the fear that “maybe someone will try to shoot at our house”. This fear even surpasses the fear of missile attacks.
4. Supporting Families:
Due to the ongoing situation in the MMD, many families can’t work and have no financial reserves or credit. We ensure that they have access to essential food supplies and basic products.
Our fellow Jews need food. They need medical care. They need encouragement. They need housing. They need comforting.
