Following a vicious statement from the group Neturei Karta against Chabad, Rabbi Pinchas Avraham Myers of Israel came out with a statement strongly condemning the group.
The statement of Neturei Karta, claiming that Chabad ‘deserved’ the attack in Mumbai, caused great outrage in the global Jewish community.
Two members of Neturei Karta repeatedly called Rabbi Myers throughout the day on Monday, to insist that he withdraw his condemnation.
While speaking with Rabbi Myers, the Neturei Karta spokesmen reiterated the original statements against Chabad.
“They threatened me a few times that if I won’t withdraw my statement, they will ‘have to do what they have to do,’ ” said Rabbi Myers to COLlive in a phone conversation.
When asked what he is planning to do about the threats, Rabbi Myers responded, “I do not plan to withdraw my statement. The truth is more important to me than what they will do.”
