After seeing where the school van ended up on Friday afternoon, teachers said it was a miracle.
“A bit further and it would have been a fatal tragedy,” one of them said, still amazed by what he saw.
The van in the Shikun Chabad neighborhood in Jerusalem was on its way to pick up children from the Talmud Torah Chabad school.
At some point the van driver geared to reverse while still pressing the gas pedal and drove into the nearby courtyard of the Viznitz Talmud Torah.
Dozens of children were playing there at the time, as the van smashed the gate and was left hanging on the stone wall.
“This was a miracle,” the teacher related as passersby gathered around.
Just a month ago, 3 year-old Shula Swerdlov was killed in a hit and run accident in Jerusalem by a reckless school van driver.
