There are plenty of memorials – buildings, organizations, programs and even children around the world who are a living testimony to the short lives of Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka, HY”D.
You can now add to the list “Gabi and Rivki and the Mitzvah Team.”
Delivering 45 minutes of original animation, song and entertainment, Mitzvah Team utilizes the highly-praised interactive methods familiar to fans of videos such as Dora the Explorer.
Key characters in the video bear the nicknames of the Chabad Shluchim murdered by terrorists in their Chabad House in Mumbai, India, in 2008.
In fact, all of the Mitzvah Team characters carry the names of those who lost their lives in that horrible attack, like Rabbi Bentzion Chroman, Rabbi Leibish Teitlebaum, Yocheved Orpaz and Nechama Shvartzblat Rabinovich – HY”D.
The plot begins with Gabi’s uncle (resembling Mrs. Holtzberg’s father Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg) in a chase against time to complete a children’s Sefer Torah in time for a celebration in Jerusalem.
Little Gabi and Rivki’s “Mitzvah Team” come to the rescue and with teamwork, song and a can-do attitude they whisk the viewers along in their fun journey of Chessed.
Along the way they pick up adorable Yiddish expressions, learn to value and respect fellow Jewish children of various backgrounds and even learn a few verses of Torah.
“It’s a real breakthrough in Jewish educational entertainment in terms of its interactive quality and even in terms of animation,” says Peretz Schmukler, creator of Mitzvah Team who lives in Montreal, Canada.
Schmukler said the development of the film started before the Mumbai massacre.
“At the time the title was ‘Mitzvah Team’ but the names of the characters were different,” he said.
“I found myself in a crowd of several thousand at a memorial for Gabi and Rivki Holtzberg and all the other Kedoishim of blessed memory, then and there I resolved to name the characters in their honor.
“Jewish children would thus associate these names with Torah, Tefillah and Tzedaka, as they take lessons of Yiddishkeit in a fun and entertaining way.”
Gabi and Rivki and the Mitzvah Team is recommended for children aged 3 to 8 years old.
The DVD will be coming soon to your local Judaica store, or purchase it now online at www.MitzvahTeam.com. (Free shipping is being offered for a limited time.)

Looks like great Chinuch!
Whenever we hear Gabi & Rivkie it is always attached to a negative feeling. Not anymore, its attached to Jewish children running around saying Toirah, and doing Mitzvoh’s.

Loved it!!!!Ur Sooo talented!!!!
There is nothing that holds a candle to a talented chabadnik. While other artists can be talented, their tochen is lacking. Those that have tochen, have no talent.
Here we have example after example of A plus tochen with top talent, like this kiddie video, like 8th day video production, JLI videos, Lubavitch rocks!!
So nice to see a jewish video that is so well animated!!

best jewish animation!
its done very professionally although a little extra chassidish.
THIS IS AN AMAZING VIDEO!
Are they have screenings for Chol Hamoed Pesach?
very cute
great video kids love it !
Considering the amount of time a child spends in front of the screen, its so important that what they watch- play is not a waste of time! This video seems interactive and educational, Not too stimulating. I think that this is so important because many videos cause the kids to become fidgety and crave that crazy excitement. Judging from the preview, it seems that this video is not violent or crazy, but entertaining.
the “yocheved” in the video, and the others even look like them. Hatzlacha
Very nicr
Finally some thing Kosher for my children, no violence etc..
Go Mechayol El Choyal!
Yaher Koach!
Very cute
Keep up the good work
BK from Nachalas Har Chabad
Hope there are more in the plans
What a beautiful thing to do l’zeicher the kedoshim. I have little ones and I can see how kids really learn from these videos. It is mamash a big zechus.
I like the fact that it is focused on installing values and that it has a lot of toichen. Very creative. Hatzlacha!
Thanks for helping to fill the void of clean, Jewish entertainment. I find that many “Jewish” or even “frum” children videos are a waste of time and do not always promote good behavior. This looks like its educations and informative.
This is just adorable for my 4 year old. Great animation!
Usually, the videos with tochen are not done well. This is very professional and educational.
Nice to see that better stuff is starting to come out on the market – the best stuff comes from the Lubavs…none holds a candle to Lubavitch talent…
lol!!!
I was thinking the same exact thing : )
Looks great!
Zal zain mit a sach hatslacha!
Bli neder will get it for a Afikomen present for my little ones.
Hope you get much much more press covrege, and be able to pay back on the time invested in this, and have peacfull time making many more for the world.
Bs”D May the neshomas of all the Mumbai Kedoshim have an aliyah through the good deeds of the children who learn the Torah way through the video. Peretz Schmukler, you are mezakeh es harabim with this video. Thank you.
Will go get it
go peretz
a nice jewish FRUM video – seems like it teaches good values
A fresh new style!
Very CREATIVE 🙂
I LIKE
so well done!
and very inspiring…
my kids watched the trailer over and over and over….
so I placed an order for the video
As an artist –
Animation is tough to do because it is so expensive (takes tons of time). That’s why you don’t see much animation in frum kids videos (think how many uncle moishe type videos there are out there vs frum animation videos…).
So I must say, as someone who works in this field this looks quite impressive to be prepared specifically for the frum market. It is definitely hitting a niche.
With Yailili and now this it’s been a good week for jewish entertainment!
Very cute.
It is funny, a friend of mine was just saying to me how come there are no jewish videos like Dora Explorer, because his kids love it and it’s educational. So yasher koach on breaking new ground.
It reminds me of Dora…
Looks like a good DVD. Educational entertainment al taharas hakodesh. I’m getting it for Chol Hamo’ed!!
Hatzlocho Rabbah Peretz, sounds/looks great!
Trans Island Classmate:)
My four year old and six year old love it!
It is very interactive. It keeps the kids moving, literally!
No couch potatoes here.
If you need something to keep your kids busy with (guilt-free) while you clean for Pesach, this is it!
It’s educational and interactive with catchy tunes and wonderful lessons.
It’s a no-brainer, get it !
Good concept. Not many jewish videos available for this age group of 3-7, 8 etc…
Looks like an educational, NON VIOLENT video (very hard to find now!) Thank you COL for keeping us informed.
