The Bochurim who have attended Yeshivas Kayitz Mexico have had quite an adventurous and action packed summer learning all about shlichus and spreading the light at every destination and with the local Jews they have met along the way.
Based out of Guadalajara under the auspices of Rabbi Srugo – Head shliach of Guadalajara the boys studied to prepare themselves and fill their arsenal with Shlichus knowledge to take with them on the road. The classes were also attended by many from the local Jewish community.
Every week they traveled for a couple of days across Mexico to farbrengen with the local Shluchim in their Chabad houses. Each destination of the program was filled with exciting trips and beautiful sights of nature.
Due to covid lockdowns and travel restrictions approaching, the directors made a decision together with the bochurim that the final week would be better spent in Miami, Florida, where there are currently fewer restrictions.
“It was a summer to remember,” says Rabbi Sasson, YKMexico Director. “I see that Hashem wanted us to spread the light in Miami! When the news came that we would have to leave Mexico a week early, we sat down in a circle, looked at the map, and said, ‘boys, we are young and energetic, choose our next stop.’ I was very impressed with our Bochurim how well they were able to adapt to the change,” he said.
The banquet was quite emotional and everyone shared how they’ve grown the lessons they’ve learned to take with them during the course of the year.
“I think the biggest shlichus lesson we’ve learned came to us indirectly, the spontaneous adventure of Hashgacha Protis,” Sasson notes. “If we can learn to ride the waves, every challenge becomes an opportunity.”
