Three years ago, Yosef Shidler identified a significant gap in the market for children’s literature that focused on the stories of the Rebbe and the Chabad Rebbeim. Despite the abundance of good children’s books, the options for stories about Tzaddikim were limited, often outdated, or not suitable for young readers. Determined to address this need, Shidler embarked on a mission to create a series that would captivate young minds and hearts with the profound impact of Tzaddikim and miracles.
The result of this mission is the “Amazing Miracle Stories for Kids” series, which has quickly become a beloved staple in the Jewish youth market. Each book, costing over $40,000 to produce, combines vibrant stories, rich graphics, and a beautiful layout, turning readers from New York to London and Montreal to Melbourne into devoted fans.
The latest installment, “Amazing Miracle Stories Vol. 3,” released in May 2024, continues this tradition of excellence. This volume features over 70 stories, including more than 20 mini-stories of miracles that took place in Eretz Yisroel after the October 7th terror attacks. Additionally, it includes stories about legendary Tzaddikim such as Rav Shimon Bar Yochai, the Arizal, the Baal Shem Tov, the Rebbeim of Chabad, Reb Zusha and Reb Elimelech, Rabbi Yisrael Dov of Vilednik, the Be’er Mayim Chayim, the Ruzhiner Rebbe, and many more.
Readers’ Reactions
Feedback from readers has been overwhelmingly positive. Chanale Fellig, a fan of the series, expressed her admiration, saying, “I read these stories over Shabbos, and I was so impressed. They far exceeded my expectations. The personal touch, different fonts, graphics, and readability make them extremely impressive.”
Chananyah K shared a similar sentiment, recounting a recent Pesach where Volume 3 was a hit among the kids. “They formed lines, eagerly waiting for their turn to read it. It was heartwarming to see them so engaged and excited about the book,” he said.
CM Gaerman also praised the series, noting, “Over Shabbos, my niece kept asking for more stories. I must have read over 15 stories, and she even asked me to re-read some. The impact on her was incredible.”
Malkie highlighted the book’s captivating nature, saying, “This book is extremely well done, with captivating stories and high-end graphics. My children love it, and I found myself reading story after story.”
M. Ruben echoed these sentiments, stating, “I read this book to my children and shared the stories with my day camp. It’s one of the best in the field. Kol hakavod to the authors!”
Tzvi Jacobs expressed his gratitude, “My boys are devouring these books, reading for hours at night. Thank you, Yosef Shidler, for this incredible series.”
A fan from Australia shared the broader impact of the series, “Having a book like Amazing Miracle Stories really puts you on the map, especially with the younger generation. I know a kid who had to be taken in by a frum family, who is new to Yiddishkeit. They made a bar mitzvah for him, and I bought him this book as a gift. The parents said that the kid loves the book, he’s reading it every day. It’s amazing how far-reaching these stories are, the impact they have. Keep up the good work, and Can’t wait to see your next book.”
The Mission and Future of the Series
The series’ success lies in its ability to resonate with both children and adults, making the stories of Tzaddikim accessible and engaging. The enthusiastic feedback from readers and educators alike highlights the series’ impact. Rabbanim and educators often share these stories in their classrooms, bringing joy to their students.
Producing such high-quality content comes with a significant price tag, and the project relies on donations to continue. A fourth book is well underway. Every penny raised is reinvested in creating more content, and all proceeds from book sales are used to fund future publications. Supporters of the project are encouraged to donate to help bring more amazing stories to children around the world.
