New Haven was the destination of choice for this year’s Aliya summer Shabbaton. Many of Aliya’s alumni moved to New Haven and helped start an extremely laid back shul called the “Shul-Lounge” which is a perfect description of what the shul actually is.
The Aliya crew were very warmly embraced and were all given Aliyos at The New Torah for hachlatos. During the Kiddush after davening (which kind of started before davening), we realized that a hand full of the guys that were davening at the Shul-Lounge had been on Aliya Shabbatons in their younger years.
Sunday included a day of kayaking, paddle boarding and Jet skiing at Rockaway Jet ski and concluded with a banquet at Wolf and Lamb. Several of the guys shared their appreciation for Aliya and all the amazing things we do for them.
The weekend concluded with a surprise birthday cake for Zalmy Franklin and all went home in high spirits.
Special thanks to the Shul-Lounge for always embracing Aliya, special thanks to Mendel Deutch for arranging the accommodations, special thanks to the Wilshinsky family for hosting 20 young energetic Aliya members to their Friday night table. Thank you Lieblich family for hosting an amazing backyard barbeque on Motzoi Shabbos and a very special thank you to all our donors that helped make the weekend “Over the Top”, extra special thank you to the Feiglin and Shemtov families who gave up their husbands/ father for the weekend and most importantly to our Aliya family who came so full of positive energy!
