Shabbos mevarchim indeed.
Family members, friends, neighbors and patients were praising Hashem as Mrs. Chana Lipkind returned to her home in Crown Heights on Friday after a lengthy battle with coronavirus.
Lipkind, a dedicated nurse at the office of Dr. Robert Feldman for 38 years, was hospitalized at NYU when the pandemic broke out.
“When we sent her off to the hospital, it was with such a heavy heart,” her daughter Mrs. Binah Teitelbaum told COLlive.com about her mother being infected 62 days ago.
As she began recovering, Lipkind was transferred to the Bedford Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Williamsburg until she was discharged in time for Shabbos.
Greeting her in front of her home were her children and grandchildren who hung up balloons, welcome signs and played the song “Thank You Hashem” by Joey Newcomb and Moshe Storch.
“Today thank G-D, Mama came home,” her son Pacey Lipkind commented. “I really have to say a huge thank you to Hatzalah of Crown Heights who have been with us and Amazing. Above and beyond is a complete understatement.”
Teitelbaum said “Thank You Hashem” was their family’s new theme song. “We are just so thankful to Hashem,” she said. “We are so thankful to everyone who davened for her and said endless Tehillim for her.”
After being helped out of the ambulance, Mrs. Lipkind insisted on standing up from the wheelchair and use a walker to walk to her home. But instead of entering, she chose to remain outside.
“She was so happy to just see people that she didn’t want to go inside,” her daughter said. “She wanted to walk out of that ambulance and greet people.”
Teitelbaum said that her mother will now focus on fully recuperating. Asked whether she will be returning to work, “Eventually. She’s not a quitter and she wants to keep on going,” her daughter said.
