The Chabad Terror Victims Project brought famed American actor Jon Voight to Israel on a goodwill visit to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba Sunday.
The Academy Award winner cheered up victims from last week’s terror attacks outside Eilat and the ensuing days of Palestinian rocket fire.
According to a report on Ynetnews.com, Voight expressed his sadness with the latest attacks, as well as the feeling that all too often, Americans are not in tune to the suffering of the Israeli people.
He pointed out that wounded Palestinians were being treated alongside Israeli victims, a fact often lost on international audiences.
“People from abroad do not understand the reality in Israel until they come here,” said Voight. “The American public thinks Israel is strong, tough and smart, but needs to remember that it is also humane, vulnerable, and surrounded by enemies.”
The Chabad Terror Victims Project, which provides terror victims and their families with financial support and one-on-one care, is run under the auspices of the Chabad-Lubavitch Youth Organization in Israel.
