not originally a chabad niggun. chabad acquired this niggun from poilishe chasidim and addapted it to their style.

This niggun is not originally a “Chabad” niggun but neither is it of “poilisher” origin. This niggun (#77 in sefer haniggunim) is attributed to chasidim of the Baal Shem Tov, and was sung before him (which explains why it sung both in chabed circles as well as in other kreizen – the source of your mistake). About what you write that this niggun was “adapted”, well ironically this niggun is actually called “nigh meyuchas” – a niggun with a mesorah.
