During a visit to Montreal, Israel’s Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar has addressed over 600 students of Beth Rivkah Girls Academy and Seminary Chaya Mushka.
He emphasized the great zchus that each of the students has by learning in the Rebbe’s school and being permeated with Kedusha, Torah and Tznius.
Dramatically, he stated: “When we see students like this, we can be confident that the future of Am Yisroel is secure, and will bring us closer to Moshiach,”
The Rishon Letzion awarded prizes of seforim to the top 10 high school students in the Achos HaTmimim program, and certificates to the top-ranking elementary students in Tzivos Hashem youth movement.
The girls were deeply moved by this special honor and the visit as a whole, said the principal, Rabbi Yosef Minkowitz.
It reminded him of a visit 20 years ago, when the Chief Sephardic Rabbi at the time, the revered Mekubal Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu OBM visited the school and emotionally declared:
“The Midrash states that our Matriarch Rivkah was ‘as a rose amongst the thorns.’ There exists in the ‘street’ many thorns, many briars… Boruch Hashem, when one enters here, to Beth Rivkah, and sees the students who are being educated by G-d fearing teachers in the path of Torah, in the ways of our holy ancestors, and in the path of Chassidus following the light of the Rebbe Shlita – this broadens the heart with joy!”
At that time, the Rebbe wrote to Rabbi Minkowitz, to publicize Rabbi Eliyahu’s words in order to further increase the number of students in Beth Rivkah.
While both Rabbi Minkowits and Rabbi Dahan HAVE principles, neither of them IS a principle, they are both good principals.
to #7 the first BR principal was Rabbi Slavin, a”h.
to #14, just know that #23 and 24 are also right.
That’s Montreal for you!
I remember when Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu came to visit although I do not remember his words. I only remember being particularly impressed by his hat and robe. Yasher Koach to Rabbi Minkowitz and the staff and students of BR.
GO MY 2 COUSINS FREIDA V.
There was the lubavitcher yeshiva & Merkos hatorah for boys & bais rivkah & bais yakov here in Montreal before Rabbi Minkowitz showed up.
Yes he had a lot to do with the growth of Bais Rivkah from a very small school to what it is today but please do not distort history.
Glad you think you’re setting the record straight but I happen to know first hand that rabbi minkowitz was directly responsible for obtaing the necessary permits to expand the school and make the building the way it looks today. And about starting the school it is true that there were other people that founded br montreal but they would be the first ones to tell u that without him it would never have really taken off.
We rock!!
Rabbi Dahan is the best Sem principle ever
Rabbi Minkowitz is a amazing principle but he did not start the school and he did not build the building.
