Rabbi Mendy Paltiel, spiritual leader and director of Chabad of Laguna Niguel, boldly proclaimed “a time for music” on Sunday, February 13, at the Laguna Hills Community Center.
5 years of growth and spreading Judaism to this corner of Southern California was being celebrated with a full feature concert of Jewish music by the 8th Day band.
With a well attended and enthusiastic crowd, the vibe was festive throughout. With spontaneous dancing breaking out in the aisles, the audience was treated to a wonderful celebration of music, Judaism and a growing community.
The band, led by fellow Shliach Rabbi Shmuel Marcus, played a spirited set of songs from their 3 studio albums while throwing in some surprising covers. They did a modern day take on “He’veinu Shalom Aleichem” highlighting each member in the band, as well as a kosher version of the “the blues.”
It was rocking all the way to the end when the band finished their encore of “Chassidim Don’t Say Good-bye,” a song about how we are always united no matter the geographical differences.
The event honored Chabad supporters Miles and Esther Sterling.
Looking forward to many more occasions like this in the SoCal area as Judaism continues to flourish like never before thanks to Rabbi Paltiel and Mrs. Kreinie Paltiel.
