On Sunday, the eve of Yud Alef Nissan, the Chabad Loft in New York City dedicated a New Torah in memory of Sammy Farkas OBM, a 15-year-old who was tragically killed in an accident 3 years ago.
His father, Michael Farkas donated the Torah and transformed the tragedy with this lively Simcha that was a kiddush Hashem.
The public celebration was taken to the streets of Manhattan and Washington Square Park where hundreds gathered, danced, and felt the Simcha of the day.
The directors of Chabad Loft at the Kavanah Space in Greenwich Village, Rabbi Yakov and Avital Bankhalter, were overjoyed to fill the streets of a neighborhood known for its social and political protests and instead fill it with the rejoicing of Jewish life and Simcha Torah.
