It began in 1980 with a powerful gathering of some 2,000 senior citizens, many of them Holocaust survivors, coming together to light the menorah and celebrate the light of Chanukah.
Forty-six years later, that spark has grown into one of the largest and most beloved Chanukah festivals in America.
The 46th Annual Chanukah Festival, presented by Chabad of South Broward and produced by Apex Creatives, returns with a powerhouse lineup featuring Avraham Fried, Zusha, Joey Newcomb, 8th Day, and the Mendy Hershkowitz Band, plus a surprise guest from Israel.
A highlight of the evening remains the lighting of the giant menorah, a tradition that draws thousands to witness the Rick Case Arena fill with light. It’s a powerful moment that blends music, community, and heritage.
“The Chanukah Festival has always been a testament to the power of light and unity,” says Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus of Chabad of South Broward. “When we bring together voices, generations, and music under one roof, the flame we build is far stronger than any individual spark.”
Rabbi Moshe Schwartz adds, “In a world searching for connection and meaning, this night reminds us that the greatest miracles begin when we stand together.”
For generations, families and communities across South Florida have gathered at the Chanukah Festival not only to celebrate, but to feel Chanukah – its music, its message, and its unmistakable light. And after 46 years, its impact only continues to grow.
