770 Shul Asks to Limit Crowd to 500

The main shul at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights announced that it will be following the new guidelines by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo banned events of 500 people or more and imposed restrictions on other gathering venues as part of its effort to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

For venues that hold fewer than 500 people, their capacity will be cut in half for as long as the limitation remains in place, Cuomo said.

Gabboim of 770, the largest shul in the Crown Heights neighborhood, said they will be following those rules “according to the clear instructions of the Rebbe to listen to doctors instructions.”

In a public letter, they wrote: “The shul is committed to all the instructions of those in charge of health, including not allowing more than 500 people stay in the shul at the same time.”

In a second notice, gabboim announced that for the first time, an early minyan Shachris on Shabbos morning at 770 will begin at 9:30 AM.

They are hoping that it will lessen the number of people at the main minyan which begins later.

They added:

1. Please daven in smaller minyanim around the neighborhood if possible.

2. Whoever doesn’t feel well, should not be visiting locations with crowds, including 770.
