The first test of the year at 770’s Dayanus program took place over the past week at the home of Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zalman Labkowsky. Multiple groups were arranged to accommodate the 75 participants who have enrolled in the program.
“This recently revitalized program has brought about a true revolution in the fulfillment of the Rebbe’s directive that Dayanus be taken up by those who are capable,” relates Rabbi Ahron Liberow, who heads the program. “While in the past 770 was the only Lubavitch institution offering a Dayanus course, and with only a select few attempting to complete its rigorous curriculum each year, at least 4 brand new Dayanus programs have announced their launch this year, inspired by the growing interest and momentum created by its recently revitalized program. This is aside from the unprecedented 75 who are currently enrolled in 770’s course,” he said.
The program is known for being one of the most comprehensive and prestigious Dayanus programs out there, covering most major parts of all four sections of the Shulchan Aruch, and culminating with receiving Semicha in the entire Shulchan Aruch “Yoreh Yoreh Yodin Yodin.” Unlike many other programs which cover only parts of Choshen Mishpat, 770’s Hanhala has always believed that one cannot be a Dayan or a Rov of a community without being proficient in the Halachos of Shabbos and Birkas Hanehenin, and without having experience in the various other major parts of the Shulchan Aruch such as Mikvaos and Kidushin.
“The program gives the opportunity and structure to delve in and cover so many important sugyos in Halacha. The fact that the learning is done together as part of a large group, providing the many opportunities to discuss the halachos with others, makes the experience all the more enjoyable,” remarks Rosh HaYeshiva and Menahel of the new Lubavitch Mesivta in Suffield, Connecticut Rabbi Menachem Fogelman, who has successfully completed the entire program a short while ago.
“The structure of this program has empowered me to set aside time to properly master these very important Halachos, despite the many time consuming communal duties a Rov and Shliach face on a daily basis. I particularly enjoy Rabbi Labkowsky’s weekly shiurim which I find stimulating and refreshing,” says Chief Rabbi and Shliach to Ecuador Rabbi Mendy Fried.
The program is now open for registration, new participants will begin the cycle with Hilchos Toen Venitan, and continue in the coming months with Hilchos Nachalos, Shabbos and Eiruvin. The test on Hilchos Toen Venitan will be around Monday, Ches Shevat. For questions or to register please email: [email protected] or visit www.dayanus.org.
