700 people of all backgrounds and affiliations crammed into the Westin Hotel in Downtown Seattle this past Sunday night to join a special event in honor of the Rebbes 24th yartzeit on Gimmel Tammuz.
It was titled, “One People, One Heart – an evening of unity and inspiration commemorating the teachings and impact of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory.”
The event was presented and worked on by the Shluchim of Washington State and coordinated by Rabbi Shmuly Levitin of Chabad of Downtown Seattle and Chabad Young Professionals Seattle. Event sponsors were Rabbi Alter and Debbie Levitin and Chabad of the Pacific Northwest.
Remarks were given by Head Shliach to the Pacific Northwest Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, as well as Rabbi Yechezkel Kornfeld, Head of the Seattle Hebrew Academy Mrs. Rivi Kletenik radio hosts Paula Begoun and Michael Medved.
The master of Ceremonies was Mr. Matthew Bergman, a prominent attorney, businessman and philanthropist in town. All attendees left with a beautiful magazine about the Rebbe.
The Keynote Address was given by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin, author of the New York Times bestselling biography “Rebbe: The Life and Teachings of Menachem M. Schneerson, the Most Influential Rabbi in Modern History.”
