The headline podcast is so amazing, the topics are always so interesting.
Also Reb Dovid is a great interviewer
this guy the son of r. mordchy gifter is full of hate and ignorance how does he know that lubavtchers don’t know how to learn!? did he test all lubavitchers !? This is just sinas chinom and he is living in the world of yesterday, because everybody today knows what lubavitch is all about. so, the leadership in Lakewood can’t make their shtick anymore because no one is going to fall for it.
Rabbi Leib Schapiro is the perfect person to represent the Rebbe, I was disappointed that R’ Dovid Lichtinstein cut out a lot of his content in editing, most noticeable when Rabbi Schapiro was talking about the value of each Neshama in klall Yisroel. Lichtinstein should let him finish his point before chopping him off.
Otherwise great episode.
Yishar Koach.
Sadly R’ Gifter’s son made a fool of himself and his father. He presented extremely weak arguments and just basic street loshon hara and jealousy. Embarrassing.
R’ Zalman Gifter Shlit”a did an excellent job representing our perspective on the Litvish/Chabad debate for a number of reasons: a) Unlike Rabbi Lederman, Harav Gifter did not personally attack the Chabad Rebbe. In fact, he did quite the opposite. He shared multiple anecdotes that demonstrated what a holy Yid the Chabad Rebbe was. He also made a point to mention the fact that the Chabad Rebbe was a Gaon Olam and a Gadol Ba’Torah. b) The crux of Rav Gifter’s argument was that as Yidden we are obligated to follow Da’as Torah, and most of Da’as Torah is opposed… Read more »
“Most of Da’as Torah is opposed to much of the work that Chabad does.“
Really now? Can you show that in writing?
This is a total fabrication. If one or two even ever said such a thing doesn’t make it right or true either. It’s a totally ignorant comment not based on reality.
When the Rebbe started Mivtza Tefillin. Many Gedolim spoke against it. The Rebbe had to answer them. Also regarding public Menoras. The Rebbe was looking to the future. They were looking at the past. When you see yourself as the leader of the Jewish people. Some people don’t like that. Who made you the leader? Neshama Klali. People don’t want to listen to the Nasi Hador. They didn’t like that the Rebbe didn’t consult them. Well they didn’t realize that the Rebbe was a person with Ruach Hakodesh. He received information that no one else knew. The Baba Sali said… Read more »
I accept your need to defend that position and your bravery on doing so on a Chabad site. However, it is your last comments which I think show the schism between the Rebbe’s view and goal, and that of those who opposed him and his vision. The Rebbe certainly did NOT send shluchim to far flung places to live there עד ביאת גואל צדק, with tremendous מסירת נפש in all ways (some of which were articulated on the program), so that you and your family, clearly שומרי תורה ומצוות, will have a broader repertoire of places to go on vacation.… Read more »
At vacation with your family. You watered down all of Chabad’s hard work with that one line. 🙁
As a shliach, there’s quite number of dishes that need to be cleaned after shabbos (as the story is told of segula for sholom bais to fold up your sleeves and wash dishes) listening to this podcasts makes it a breeze, and it really starts up my week right
R’ Dovid is a real inspiration of somebody who runs a multibillion-dollar business but still puts aside the time to make such an amazing podcast, and shows that he has a vast and deep knowledge of all areas of Torah
I heard the following story do you know more ? Rabbi Chaim Gutnick who originally learnt in Telz in Lita, when he came to visit the Rebbe he also went to Cleveland to visit Telz. They had many questions to him about Lubavitch and the Rebbe when he came back he shared with the Rebbe in yechidus. 2 questions Rabbi Mordechai Gifter had 1. why the Rebbe doesn’t consult with “daas Torah” with Gedolei Hador 2. Why does the Rebbe quote a unknown midrash נתאוה ה׳ להיות לו דירה בתחתונים and makes it into an עיקר The Rebbe answered I… Read more »
what was the one answer that ansewred both?, second: Why is it called an obscure medrash if it is quoted in tanya as an Ikar already. Essentially the other gedolim were not yet ready to do the job the Rebbe was going to do, and no one would have believed it possible. So he had to go ahead and prove the new reality first. Now others have come on board and more will.
The host was wonderful. He was well prepared as he drilled down to lay bare the fundamental differences between chabad and others. It is worthy to note that the Rebbe explained that kiruv is not only because of a הידור מצוה in אהבת ישראל but also part of a לאו of לא תעמוד על דם רעך as explained in לקו”ש ח’ לב’ פרשת קדושים
