The writing of the second Miracle Sefer Torah, begun during the darkest days of the coronavirus pandemic, has begun.
Nearly 55,000 letters have already been assigned in the Torah which was started with the overflow of participants in the first Unity Miracle Torah, which united hundreds of thousands around the globe.
304,805 Jews of every background joined forces in that Torah in an overwhelming display of unity, with every letter in the Torah being purchased in the name of a Jewish person from around the world.
The Unity Miracle Torah was begun by Crown Heights businessmen Rabbi Beryl Junik, Rabbi Shloime Greenwald and R’ Zalmy Cohen, in an effort to end the pandemic by uniting Jewish people around the world, due to the now-famous story of the Baal Shem Tov’s instructions in response to an epidemic in the town of Mezibush. The excess proceeds raised are donated to Hatzalah.
The writing of the Torah has been called a “historic endeavor” by many for the unprecedented unity it has brought to Klal Yisroel across the globe by uniting hundreds of thousands who have purchased letters.
The first Torah was completed last month in a historic, worldwide celebration joined by a half million people live online, with a lineup of superstar singers and joyous singing and dancing.
Before its completion, the Torah visited many different communities, and prominent and respected Rabbonim and community leaders have joined in inscribing letters in the Torah.
Organizers expect to finish the second Torah in the next year.
