The Unity Torah, begun during the start of the pandemic and set to be completed on Sunday, is being praised by Admorim, Rabbanim and Rosh Yeshivos for its historic unity among the Jewish people.
This week, the two Satmar Rebbes – R’ Aron of Monroe and R’ Zalman Leib of Williamsburg – each inscribed a letter in the Torah.
In Monroe, the Unity Torah organizers and Sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein visited the Satmar Rebbe R’ Aron together with R’ Dudi Farkash of Chabad of Olympia. The visit was followed by a spontaneous tour of the various mosdos and buildings that are being built in Kiryas Yoel, including a brand new girls’ school building that was just completed.
In Williamsburg, the organizers visited the Satmar Rebbe R’ Zalman Leib, at a meeting facilitated by askan R’ Eli Slavin of Crown Heights.
Many prominent Rabbonim, Rosh Yeshivos and community leaders have embraced the Unity Sefer Torah, which has united hundreds of thousands of Jews from all walks of life and from around the globe.
“The Torah has been embraced with tremendous love and chayus,” says Rabbi Beryl Junik, who organized the Torah together with Rabbi Shloime Greenwald and R’ Zalmy Cohen. “The writing of the Torah has given strength, courage and chizuk to so many, and for some, it gave actual Refuah against this terrible pandemic.”
“We were amazed at how we were received with open arms by the Rebbeim and community leaders, who were so thankful for the zechus to be a part of this historic achdus in Klal Yisroel,” Zalmy Cohen told COLlive. “They greeted us with the utmost respect, and were extremely impressed with the amount of Jews who have joined the Torah from all walks of life.”
During the past week, dozens of Rabbis have given brachos for strengthening the learning of Torah and the safety of the Jewish people in response to the monumental effort.
“There is not a single Jewish community that is not represented by this Torah,” Rabbi Shloime Greenwald said. “We hope and pray that this achdus may be the final action to bring Moshiach.”
