This past Sunday, September 25, Chabad Bais Menachem hosted its first annual Kids Mega Challah Bake at the BMH-BJ Social Hall in Denver, Colorado.
Over four hundred children representing Chabad Hebrew Schools, Youth Groups, Girl Scouts and families from Denver and the surrounding areas joined together in a palpable spirit of unity and Hakhel.
Organized by Rabbi Yisroel and Leah Engel from Chabad of Colorado, Rabbi Shmuly and Zeldy Engel from Chabad of Cherry Creek and Chana Feige Abrahams, the Challah Bake was a 2 hour non-stop adventure.
Every child was greeted with a braided crown balloon hat and a personalized apron.
After everyone was directed to assigned tables, the fun began.
Every participant had the opportunity to make their very own challah. It was a hands-on experience from mixing the ingredients to kneading the dough and finally, braiding the challah.
The video presentation, juggling show, Rosh Hashana game and refreshments enhanced the event.
It took 3 photographers and a videographer to capture all the excitement.
All the participants left with their hands filled with their unique balloon hat, apron, challah, tzedaka and Shabbos candles all ready to welcome this Shabbos, the final Shabbos of the year.
The Mega Challah Bake is the talk of town and plans are in place to secure a larger venue for next year’s Mega Challah Bake.
Looks incredible. What a Kiddush Hashem in time for Hakhel.
