More than 400 people gathered in South Florida for Yaldei’s 5th annual Miami BBQ, an evening defined by achdus, inspiration, and meaningful support for the Shluchim and their families. The event was headlined by renowned singer Avraham Fried, whose music elevated the atmosphere and brought the crowd together in song and spirit.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks from Dovid Leib Shur, who greeted the guests and spoke about the heart behind Yaldei’s work. He emphasized that Yaldei, a division of Merkos 302, exists to stand behind Shluchim raising children with special needs — ensuring they never have to choose between caring for their families and serving their communities. The message was clear: this is about strengthening those who strengthen others.
Rabbi Yisroel Wilhelm followed with powerful words, describing Yaldei as more than an organization. “Yaldei is home,” he shared — a home for Shluchim navigating complex challenges, a place of understanding, practical support, and dignity. His message captured what so many in the room felt: Yaldei provides not only resources, but belonging.
Guests joined from across South Florida to show their support, and the strong turnout underscored the community’s recognition of Yaldei’s vital mission. Through financial assistance, therapeutic programming, retreats, and ongoing care, Yaldei helps lighten the immense load carried by Shluchim on the frontlines — allowing them to be fully present for their families, their communities, and their special children, without compromise on any.
The evening’s success was the result of extraordinary teamwork. Special appreciation goes to Sholly Weiser, Yaldei’s dedicated Director of Programming, for his leadership and devotion. Gratitude to Tzirel Coane of TC Events for the meticulous planning and flawless execution, to Mendel Bergstein for the design, and to Shtern Lazaroff for the thoughtful copy and messaging that carried the vision forward. Thank you as well to Nissin Catering for the exceptional food and hospitality, and of course to Avraham Fried for lending his voice and heart to the cause.
Most importantly, thank you to every individual who attended and partnered in this mission. Together, the community affirmed a powerful truth: no Shliach raising a child with special needs should ever stand alone.
