31 Bochurim Get Smicha in Miami

Close to 200 people gathered for the 10th anniversary of the Miami Semicha Program and the ordination of 31 new Rabbis.

Rabbi Avi Richler, an alumnus of the Semicha Program and now a Shliach in Gloucester County, NJ, was the guest speaker who flew in especially for this occasion.

Richler noted during his keynote address that the Semicha Program was founded 10 years ago by Rabbi Yisroel Frankforter with four students, and this year 31 students graduated, a growth from 4 to 31 – an increase of about 500%.

Parents and families of the new rabbis came from as far as Australia. Friends and supporters of the many programs run by Rabbi and Mrs. Frankforter came to show their support as well.

The names of the newly ordained are Yair Atar, Yossel Baumgarten, Menachem Bekerman, Simcha Brody, Mayer Carlebach, Mendel Chaikin, Yudi Cohen, Isaac Diament, Israel Dodisco, Mendy Friedman, Aharon Gabay, Mendy Gelman, Refoel Gutnick, Shully Klein, Dov Klyne, Shimmy Korolitzky, Zevi Kugel, Yossef Lasry, Shmuel Levin, Moti Lewin, Berele Lewin, Perets Meslati, Asher Perez, Mordechai Popack, Ariel Said, Shmuel Schapiro, Shimon Spigler, Dovid Stopin, Shalom Tamam, Rafi Toubian and Levi Zeiler.

Among the many guests were Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yeruslavsky, chief Rabbi of Kiryat Malachi, Rabbi Azriel Chaikin, former chief rabbi of Ukraine who came to be with his grandson as he received his Semicha, Rabbi Gavriel Schapiro and Rabbi Leibel Baumgarten who came for their sons

Rabbi Avraham Korf, Rabbi Leib Schapiro, Rabbi Sholom Lipskar and many other local Shluchim were in attendance as well.
