Jeunesse Chabad Morocco, the center in Casablanca led by Shluchim Rabbi Levi and Chana Banon, are running a crowdfunding campaign titled “Light Up Together” and aiming to raise $180,000.
Morocco was hit severely during the Covid pandemic, Rabbi Banon says. While the country is still at some level of confinement, Chabad continues and is at the forefront of spiritual and physical support for needy families, widowed families, the elderly and the young.
The Charidy fundraiser is being matched by 3 Chabad entrepreneurs who have Moroccan roots and are keeping their heritage and family connections alive by supporting Chabad in their native land.
Rabbi Banon thanked David and Eda Schottenstein, Eli and Fraidy Nash, and Mendel and Esther Banon and many other friends and supporters worldwide, as most of their funding comes from outside Morocco.
“This support is the greatest encouragement and inspiration to us as we continue and expand our efforts here in Morocco,” he says.
