If you are a young man between the ages of 20-28 and are looking for a job or a career path, Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE) and Parnassah Employment Services are bringing you an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
How does a young man between the ages of 20-28 find an opening for a job or a career path in one of those new businesses that have started to flourish in and around Crown Heights? You may find the answer at Lubavitch Yeshiva Crown Street at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, Nov 15th, where Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs (CHYE) and Parnassah Employment Services are bringing you an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
CHYE and CHJCC and Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island are proud to present this ground breaking job fair. Prospective employers from a diverse set of backgrounds and industries will meet with prospective employees and conduct mini interviews. These interactions will be facilitated by event staff, who will work to ensure that everyone who attends gets as much face-time with as many possible employers as possible.
What follows is up to the employers, and how good of an impression you made. There will be resources and job-placement experts at the event to help guide you through these next steps should you need it.
Mr. Jeffrey Prince of Parnassah Employment Services event organizer is one such expert. He has been operating in Crown Heights for the last three years through the community council, and in that time has helped over 150 people find jobs. “I have come to really respect and appreciate this community” he says. “I would love to help the next generation, the post-yeshiva, post-seminary, post-kollel, the just-got-married young people; it would be a really great thing if they started off their careers on the right foot.”
Participants will need to arrive with a detailed, comprehensive resume in hand. For those who don’t have a resume or are unsure if their resumes are up to professional standards, there will be an assistance booth that will help you and teach how put together a resume that presents you in the best way and gives you the best chance of getting hired.
Rabbi Yehoshua Werde of CHYE, the other event organizer, will also be there providing whatever help he can at the event. This jobs fair is actually a step out of CHYE’s usual field, but circumstances have helped create some unique conditions that have put CHYE in position to help a lot of people. “We are mostly involved in entrepreneurship,” says Rabbi Werde. “We help people create businesses. But after years of doing this, and with many successful businesses up and running boruch hashem, these same businesses now have an urgent need for talented, motivated people to join them and help them keep growing”.
“CHYE has a great network of young and growing businesses,” said Rabbi Eli Cohen of CHJCC, “Many of the people who run those businesses appreciate the unique talent and potential of young people trained in the Lubavitch educational system. I am excited that Rabbi Werde has volunteered to bring these two groups together — employers and potential employees.”
The jobs market is a funny thing these days, with rampant unemployment and underemployment, while at the same time companies are frantically trying to fill positions, some that have been open for years. There is opportunity here, and all it takes is a little ambition and the willingness to work hard. This jobs fair is a great way to get started on that.
