Two Jewish men were assaulted and injured during an attempted stabbing incident on Shabbos afternoon in Crown Heights.
The attack occurred around 12:30 PM near Union St and Albany Ave when the perpetrator, unprovoked, suddenly approached a victim and attempted to stab him in the neck with a sharp object. Miraculously, the victim avoided serious injury. The attacker then shoved the 2nd victim to the ground, causing injuries, before threatening other bystanders.
The victims appeared to be targeted because they were Jewish as the perpetrator passed a non Jewish person to reach the Jewish victims.
A witness immediately called Crown Heights Shmira, whose volunteers arrived swiftly and detained the perpetrator until the NYPD arrived and placed him under arrest.
Both victims were treated for their injuries by Hatzalah.
Please be aware of your surroundings. In case of an emergency, call 911 and Shmira 24/7 at 718-221-0303.
It is extremely crucial and necessary to install a Shabbos Emergency Phone in your Shul. If you need a phone in your Shul, call Shmira (646-970-1703) to have a free phone installed.

“stay strapped or get clapped”
But seriously, someone needs to start putting down these animals!
I’m looking forward to the day that one of these animals try to touch the wrong jew. Be ready people. Defend yourself!
כל השונאי ישראל שילכו לגיהינום מיד ממש!
לא משנה איזה צבע עור!
To carry self defense weapons?
Wheres the rabonim helping safety?
you don’t need any special heter, it is permitted to carry weapons on shabbos.
Its assur to carry a weapon especially on shabbos.
Which program CH building does this man live in???
The last time a Jew was murdered in Brooklyn (Menachem Stark HY”D) his murderers were program tenants at 921 Montgomery Street (corner Schenectady) in Crown Heights.
Wouldn’t be surprised if this guy also lives in 921 Montgomery St, it’s a dangerous building renting to violent criminals
Due to the location of the attack, in this incident today the attacker was most likely from
1621 Union St, Brooklyn, NY 11213
Which is a Section 8 building (that doesn’t allow Jews to rent by them) owned by a Satmar Community Leader from Williamsburg
Yes this whole section 8 thing is sick!! I was just told I have to many kids for a 3 bedroom. So it’s impossible to get a 4 or 5 bedroom in the area. Go figure 🤔
it’s tough to evict these tenants. Just because we are Chabad doesn’t mean that we evict an entire building for ansh illegally. Most of us don’t have section 8 in ch. The ones that do often need a 3 bedroom that this building doesn’t have much. Section 8 has the benefit that checks come every month from the government even so criminals must be persecuted and not allowed to hurt innocent people.
They don’t need to be evicted all at once but priority can be given to our own community. Unless you want to keep on dealing with high crime rates. We can keep on playing this game of feeling bad for crimminals… Until one of the building owners family members get hurt themselves then they will do something.
I’m sick of this double standard!
921 Montgomery Street is also a Popack program rental apartments building
Not to worry, we just elected a new vaad and they decided everybody has to pay $120. Once that money is collected things like this won’t happen anymore.
The $120 is mostly for the Rabbonim salary. Maybe a certain building should just stop filling up dozens of center Crown Heights buildings with the formally incarcerated from Rikers island?
Half the crime in CH is linked to those buildings, 451 Kingston near Lefferts looks like a war zone outside his largest property
There’s no way it’s half. It’s probably 90% or more.
Well BH the rabbonim made sure to come out and forbid us from carrying protection on shabbos. A+… SMH
Cmon fight back
He could be carrying a gun also r”l.
they were not carrying any weapons, probably should have been lol
If you can get put of the situation wothout fighting that’s better
The worst thing that’ll happen is you come out with some broken bones, but at least you’ll satisfy the col commenters sitting on their couches.
This is the direct product of our Amazing public School, Churches, Mosques and some toxic politicians
Let flush this garbage down the drain and MAKE AMERICA & THE WORLD GREAT AGAIN
Shavuah Tov
What is being done about this?
UNFORTUNATELY NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS,
AND,
UNFORTUNATELY NOTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!
He’ll be freed and nothing further will be done to prevent this.
More shelters are being built as we speak just in case our streets aren’t yet flooded enough with dangerous mentally ill or illegal aliens.
Compliments of your tax dollars.
The beatings will continue until morale improves says the communists
I beg anyone who has a gun please get the correct training and carry 24/7 yes even on shabbos as we can see it’s pekuach nefesh
He’ll be back on the street by Monday
Five men ran away from one perpetrator, even though he was armed, he could have been overpowering.
I witnessed this. The men did not run away. The black man was holding a pair of gardening scissors and attempting to stab them with it. They kept a safe distance and followed him and yelled to call police but they did not run away. fyi
He needs to be charged with attempted murder because that’s clearly what he was trying to do.
100% and bring back the death penalty to New York State!
We should carry guns yud shvat streets full of bochrim. Where is police???
The community should show up in LARGE numbers and ask about “those extra patrols” that the 71st Precinct has been promising for 20 years.
Neighborhood Coordination Officers for Sector B at their Build The Block public safety meeting this Tuesday, February 11th. The meeting will be held at the JCM 792 Eastern Parkway and starts at 6:00 PM
ColLIVE & Shmira should publicize about this important meeting for the community
And to whoever will be picked to speak ,stick to the topic of criminals living in crown heights buildings. Many that showed up last time weren’t able to have their voices heard. This is the priority right now.
Whoever gets selected out of the crowd to speak, stick to the topic of crime and dangerous buildings. The criminals and those with criminal track record need to be evicted somewhere else, they cannot live in a functioning community, its just cruel plain and simple!
We all know what would’ve happened if the victims fought back.
Guy SHOULD be locked up for attempted murder. Except this is NY, so he’ll be let out by… the end of the week?
I read Gonzalez will NOT charge them with a hate crime or felony
yea/ Where?? your not being factual. He was charged with a a hate crime
There was a shooting today, Shabbos afternoon in Crown Heights at 501 Lefferts Ave (corner of Lamont Court)
Don’t know details but a police officer said this is about the 5th shooting at this building in recent months.
What is going on at 501 Lefferts?
That’s a Popack building
How do you know?
Every now & then I noticed that unhinged homeless looking creeps outside 501 Lefferts Ave (who clearly live in this building as they have a key to open the door) are harassing young Beis Rivkah girls walking to/from school. I inquired with neighbors & everyone confirmed that this is a Popack owned building.
However, I don’t think anyone on the block ever spoke to Popack or even to Beis Rivkah about this
501 Lefferts Avenue is a dangerous dangerous building, does Mr. Popack even know the great concerns originating from his property??
Our fault for voting dems in to office
No one else to blame !!
Are yidden such cowards?!
Develop a backbone! Show that we are not cowardly sheep!
not one of them was carrying a single weapon
yes its really worth risking your life jumping a guy with a knife unarmed…..
Time to get rid of Hochul/Bragg/James in full. Instead of actually letting Yidden carry openly for our own safety the Rabbonim still don’t see the fact the police do zilch except dump them right back on the street. This was attempted murder.
time to bring back the vigilante neighborhood patrols. those were the days when perps knew that you started up with the wrong people you quickly learned a lesson in behavior. These criminals will be undeterred unless they are taught a physical lesson. In other words: CHAPZTEM!!!!!!!!
Where is shmira or shomrim???
Call yourself whatever you want but get out there and defend the community protect the community. It’s irresponsible for people living there to not carry around some sort of defense mechanism. You don’t need a gun you could have pepper spray or something not lethal. This is ridiculous. 10-year-old girls should be able to defend themselves if you wanna live there.
Shmira & Shomrim were there. They followed and subdued the assailant. Stop complaining. Where were you? what do you call yourself?
Every citizen 21 and older can now get licensed to carry a gun.
Stop kvetching and start carrying. EVERYONE.
A large percentage already carry in the community, everyone should join
Rabboisai: loi kol yoim misrachesh nisa. Hashem who protects us saved these people from serious harm. There is a mitzvas asei d’oiraisa of ushmartem meod lenafshoisechem. Get legal guns. Don’t be anonymous about it. These perps will back off if they suspect Jews are carrying.
This is beyond ridiculous. In the 1930s the Jews ran away from the bullies. Those days are over. Stand up for yourself! This guy should be in a coffin tonight! Now walking back on the streets by Monday
perhaps the community people who are regularly are pictured with hochul and adams have a chat with them and ask them why this guy isn’t charged with attempted murder, and what they are doing to prevent such recurrence. what’s the point of connections and photo opps if you don’t cash that in? Is the point only speeches or actual crimes being addressed
Hochul needs doge to come audit the spending in NY State.
This is happening because because she is corrupt and getting rich off our backs.
They not only know about our suffering but they also truly do not care
We are cockroaches to them.
Pretty stupid because without us they have nothing and can do nothing for themselves
I work in the dhs, now an active stabbing is considered an active shooter and we need to fight back. A shelter worker was stabbed to death a few weeks ago by a current client, we need to arm ourselves
In the 1970’s a yid wrote about leaving his neughborhood because of crime. The Rebbe responded in a 16 page English text with halachic sources, stating that 1) leaving never helps because you can’t fled Hashem, 2) You are osser to leave unless you take out all the residents leaving none stranded, 3) Therefore the residents should get gun training and arm themselves. When the (then) unelected community council saw a copy, they sent shluchim to confiscate the kuntres, but the Rebbe printed hundreds more and had them distributed. So much for anti-gun Democrats. This never happens in Republican states.… Read more »
Source?
Is there a copy of this kuntres anywhere?
Story sounds stretched. Without a copy of the letter, seems of looft. A rebbe letter promoting getting guns? Yeh. Let me see that.
Exactly true!
It was perpetrated. Please get it right.
Our CH leadership won’t push for our protection. Never will and never have.
My kids were walking back from 770 behind the perpetrator and one of the men ran to tell my kids to run away because there was a man with a knife. Suffice it to say that my kids cane back home thoroughly traumatized.
A miracle nothing worse happened
Are those Bochurim okay?
(Agree with all the comments here)
To all the chachomim that advise to carry a gun – if ever you use the gun to defend your life and actually kill the attacker, your life will be over! You will be arrested for murder and other charges. You will spend your life savings on a lawyer to defend your criminal charges. Your case will take years to wind through the courts. Meanwhile, you will probably be unable to travel out of country. At trial, you lawyer MIGHT win by proving self defense, which is difficult, because you must provevthat you had no other choice but to ahoot… Read more »
And you know this how? I disagree. Get a gun. Use it wisely, strictly as self defense. If you feel your life is threatened by someone with a knife. Use it. Better to be safe and even faced with legal problems, than knifed.
This is exactly what I was wondering
Are you dumb?
You can’t stand there and start discussing in your head “will I CV die”.
If someone comes at you with a deadly weapon you 100% shoot them.
you are jumping the gun, no pun intended. I wrote that yidden should get guns as a deterrent. When criminals know that yidden carry they will think twice about attacking a “defenseless” Jew.
To get convicted of attempted murder, it must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt (almost 100%), that he INTENDED to murder. The defense will argue maybe he only intended to injure. The jury will agree that it is possible that he only intended to injure and that there is zero proof that he tried to murder. The cops only charge for a crime that has a reasonable prospect if conviction. Attempted murder, in this case, has zero prospect of conviction.
R u fo real ? He lunged at 2 people with a knife!!!
The community must demand that the Vaad Hakahol put community safety as their priority #1. Everything else, no matter how important, is secondary! But what can they do? Here’s a thought: Learn from the goyim. What would Black community leaders do if a black man was attacked because of his skin color? They would organize massive rallies and protest, scream to the media, file civil rights lawsuits against the City, police, everone and their mother-in-laws…they would get the attention and reaction of politicians and lawmakers, including the District Attorney. They would make sure that their people’s blood is not cheap.… Read more »
Ya, takes lesson from Al Sharpton on how to protest the need to stand up for their community! And Jesse Jackson! And their community leaders…Vaad hakahol, take notes and get to work! Are you waiting till someone gets killed c”v??? Do you need a Korbon tzibur before you lead the community??
We can’t rely on the police! it’s time to take our safety into our own hands. If possible, arm yourself with a gun, pepper spray, or a Taser (Yes! in Shabbos too!). At the same time, our community must push for government funding to ensure every Jewish teen and adult in CH gets high-level self-defense training. Most of us don’t have time for it in our daily lives, which is why we need financial support—to make time for training and to pay qualified instructors. We also need better instant communication tools, like loud whistles around our neck or inside our… Read more »
Jewish Lives Matter! BLM stood up for the Blacks. Who stands up for Jews? Does Jewish Lives Matter? The community needs leadership, not photo ops or feel good messages. Vaad Hakohol – Take action by organizing a massive rally and protest. Put heat on politicians. Make a media storm. Or, be silent and lose the community because you did nothing and are worthless.
people really need to start dealing with these things. to much crime arrest all these criminal animals
MAKE CROWN HEIGHTS GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I completed, happy I could protect myself during home break in, chas v’sholom – IN MY HOME. The trainer made it very clear, that someone breaking in CANNOT BE SHOT – IN SELF DEFENSE, unless it could be proven he was trying to kill me. Once I heard there, never got the gun!
Castle doctrine, If you are in your own home and are trying to stop a burglary (or arson) in progress unless the burglar is retreating you can shoot him if you feel threatened.
