Some 1,500 Jewish travelers took part in a huge Pesach Seder in Cusco, Peru, the “backpackers’ capital of South America.”
The Seder, one of the largest in the world, was organized by the Shluchim Rabbi Ofer and Yael Kripor.
Preparations for the massive event began a few months ago, in order to organize and prepare for the massive event.
“This includes shipping hundreds of pounds of Matzah, and hundreds of pounds of chicken and meat,” Rabbi Kripor told COLlive.
“In addition, hundreds of gallons of wine were produced locally, and cases of vegetables, eggs and more were brought in, which we also had to transport to the distant location where the Seder is located,” he said.
A team of Chabad Yeshiva bochurim were sent by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch to assist with the preparations and help run the Seder.
“I am so grateful to Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky for his assistance to Shluchim during Pesach and throughout the entire year,” Rabbi Kripor said.
Because of the size of the event, local security agencies were brought in to secure the event. The Shluchim summed up the success of the Seders with great satisfaction, and the record number of tourists who participated this year.

One can only marvel with such deep admiration for the mesirat nefesh to produce such a seder with such dedication and precision. The shluchim Rabbi Ofer and Yael Kripor deserve such hakarat hatov for the organization and the Chabad headquarters for sending the bocharim and to the bocharim themselves for making the trip. With such dedication may the Moshiah come… Read more »
