Bochurim from 15 American Yeshivos are spending Tishrei in Crown Heights this year, thanks to the assistance of R’ Moshe Rubashkin.
Each year, thousands of Bochurim travel to New York to spend Tishrei with the Rebbe.
Bochurim from Israel are provided for by both the Vaad Hatmimim and Eshel organizations, who each assist with food, sleeping accommodations and daily learning programs.
This year, for the first time, Bochurim from American yeshivos were provided for as well, with accommodations, meals and learning programming being organized for them.
This was done with the generous assistance of R’ Moshe Rubashkin, who is providing thousands of meals throughout the day at his home.
He also arranged for the American bochurim to have sleeping accommodations, procuring 2 locations for them.
Learning and special programming for the American bochurim are taking place in the large tent at 770 Eastern Parkway.
On Sunday, Vov Tishrei, both Toronto and Brunoy Yeshivos are learning in the tent, and later, they will be joined by the other bochurim for a program with Rabbi Michoel Seligson who will be speaking about Vov Tishrei. Farbrengens will be taking place many evenings as well.
The bochurim have arrived from Brunoy Zal, Brunoy Mesivta, Ateres Menachem, Baltimore, LA Zal, LA Mesivta, Queens, Cincinnati, Toronto Zal, Toronto Mesivta, Montreal, Toras Emes, New Haven and Postville Yeshivas.
Rubashkin, a charitable figure in Crown Heights, is known to open his home for community events and simches. He is especially known for his huge temporary structure – and huge Sukkah – which is open to all.
Rubashkin has been addressing an urgent need to feed the many guests that come for Tishrei, many of whom do not have local families to host them or are left without a place for meals. He serves meals to bochurim, girls and families, and provides sleeping accommodations for hundreds.
