About 100,000 people participated Wednesday morning in the Birkat Kohanim prayer during Shacharit in the Western Wall plaza.
On Wednesday morning, tens of thousands of visitors arrived at the Western Wall, including thousands of Kohanim who came to take part in the moving ceremony of the priestly blessing.
As in previous years, the Priestly Blessing took place in the presence of the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Rishon LeZion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef , Rabbi David Lau, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Places, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Commissioner Roni Alshich, Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel, Minister of Environmental Protection, Jerusalem and the legacy of Mr. Ze’ev Elkin and Mayor of Jerusalem, Mr. Nir Barkat.
The Chief Rabbis and the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Places later hosted the public at the entrance to the Western Wall sites and welcomed the visitors.
The Blessing of the Priests at the Western Wall has become a long-standing tradition, a status of great importance to the Jewish people. This morning we experienced a particularly moving occasion in which thousands of priests, who wrapped themselves in prayer shawls and welcomed the people of Israel, took part in it.
The special event was broadcast live on the Facebook page and on the website of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation.
