Over 1,000 people came out on Sunday to greet a new Sefer Torah written in memory of Rabbi Eliezer Wenger OBM.
Rabbi Wenger, author of of halacha and chinuch books and a long time educator in Montreal, passed away one year ago, in Adar of 5770.
A school teacher for over 40 years, Rabbi Wenger taught thousands of boys, girls and adults as rabbi of Congregation Oneg Shabbos in Montreal.
The new Torah was greeted by his family and friends with singing and dancing in the Montreal streets, despite the cold weather.
Rabbi Wenger was not only a phenomenal teacher , but he was fair. all a high school student wants is to be heard out and treated with respect . Rabbi Wenger always gave second chances whether it was to make up a test or homework, he showed his compassion towards each student . he is greatly missed
I could still hear his deep voice…..always wanted the best for each student……
what an event! yiddishkeit doesn’t cease to boggle my mind. hachnosos sefer torah – so incredibly joyous, to commemorate a passing that was so incredibly tragic.
may the family know of simchas only. Rabbi Wenger is sorely missed by all family and friends.

How I wish…
He was my teacher…

Thank you Rabbi Wenger for teaching me the wonderful subjects of Halacha, Chumash, etc. I still have photocopies of what you have taught and cannot throw them out since each of the pages have so much meaning.
