Mrs. Chana Segal, a young mother and Shlucha in Rishon Letzion, Israel, passed away on Tuesday, 4 Cheshvan, 5778.
She was 40.
Chana was diagnosed with a terrible illness only a month and a half ago, and had been undergoing treatment in Houston, Texas.
In the last week her condition had deteriorated, and tragically she passed away this morning.
A devoted Shlucha, she leaves behind 9 young children, the youngest of which is only a year and a half.
Chana was born in Tzfas to her parents, Rabbi Zalman Eliyahu and Rochel Hendel, one of the founding families of the Chabad community in Tzfas.
After her marriage to Rabbi Eliyahu Segal, son of Rabbi Zev Segal, the couple established Chabad centers in the city of Rishon Letzion, Israel.
In the last month, Tehillim was recited around the world for her recovery, and a half million dollars were raised to help fund the expensive treatment she was undergoing.
She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Eliyahu Segal, and 9 children.
She is also survived by her parents, Rabbi Zalman Eliyahu and Rochel Hendel, and siblings Nechama Dina Deitsch – Petach Tikva, Israel, Levi Hendel – Crown Heights, Mendy Hendel – Crown Heights, Shmulik Hendel – Kfar Chabad, Israel, Yossi Hendel – Beer Sheva, Israel, Devorah Leah Zilbershtrom – Tzfas, Israel and Sholom Dovber Hendel – Or Yehuda, Israel.
The levaya will take place today, Tuesday, passing by 770 Eastern Parkway on the way to burial in Tzfas, Israel.
Update: The levaya in NY will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway at 9:30 pm.

cannot fathom the tragedy of 9 young children losing their mother and the grieved husband/father having to deal both with his own indescribable pain as well as with the pain of his children. how much such pain can a person be expected to deal with?
