Roman Abramovich, the Russian Jewish business tycoon who is listed as the 50th richest person in the world according to Forbes, was seen in Crown Heights on Monday afternoon.
Dressed in biking gear and two-color shades, he had lunch at Basil Pizza & Wine Bar, the kosher Italian bistro on Kingston Avenue.
Sitting with Abramovich, who owns the Chelsea Football Club in England, was Rabbi Alexander Boroda, the well-connected Russian Lubavitcher who is chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
The two spoke in Russian, but at the end of the meal Abramovich complimented Executive Chef Jose Edgardo Soto on the food and told him in English, “You have a very nice place here.”
A bystander said it seemed like Abramovich was part of a group which was biking down Eastern Parkway. CNBC reported in February 2013 that Abramovich docked his $1.5 billion yacht Eclipse, the world’s second largest, in New York City.
The billionaire oligarch reportedly donated $5 million to build the Marina Roscha Synagogue and Jewish Community Center, headed by Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar, and has business ties with major Chabad philanthropist Lev Leviev.
Abramovich was also seen posing with Moscow Shliach Rabbi Yanky Klein in front of 770 Eastern Parkway, the iconic synagogue of the Rebbe and Lubavitch World Headquarters.
Big season for Chelsea next year with Sir Alex leaving United and morinio on his way in at chelsea.
who cares????
do you??
btw hes really handsome!!!
You can do alot with money, then without it
with tuition for Jewish children in crown heights.
In the last couple of years Roman fulfilled the mitzvah of peru urvu. He was blessed with two Jewish children: a boy and a girl. Mazal Tov! We never met but we waited for this news a very long time! We are very happy for him and his wife Daria! May they be blessed with more children, health, hatzlacha & parnassa.
You”re right money can’t buy happiness, but being poor sure dont help…
More to the point:
Did Rabbi Barodo put tefillin on Roman?
Put it all in perspective.
He gave $5m for a shul and £400m he gave to build Chelsea Football Club,
May he use his wealth to help fund the release of shalom mordechai !!!!!! We need big money for this cause
I promise to be Sameach BeChelko, just give me half his money
$1.5 bil is correct
Please Hashem , give me 5 billion dollars ( or equivalent at todays value)and,I would write many sifrei Torah , I would sponsor to have free yeshiva ,increase teachers salaries , support many ppl to start their business etc etc
waste of money
His only Chisoroin is that he supports Chelsea.
#. Please hashem test me with his lot, so I can be happy with my lot
Roman went to the Ohel to pray that his team won’t be beaten to much by Tottenham tomorow.
You killed me XD haha
Jealousy? For what? If you had that much money how much better would your life be then it is now?
I am simply putting things in perspective,
May he continue to use his $$ for good things, and be blessed
Maybe he can help camp Yeka this year. Can someone please refer him to our website http://www.campyeka.org ?
To #12 he ment to say ride the yacht to pick up moshiac what were u think hes not that guy who would just waste time on a yacht just for pleasure
y’all missed the point. basil scored!
That a Jew is in the top 50! I sense a deep jealousy, very sad!!
so humble!!!
Sasha Boroda is the Man who took Lubavitch in Russia to where it is today, he is the best. thank you Sasha, your friend
Seems upset. Why?
If I were Abromovich I’d be richer Abromovich because I could teach a little Hebrew school on the side.
With apologies but I just couldn’t resist.

Look at the good side
The Rebbe said that hashem gives resources to people whom he knows can use them out for good.
May he give many more millions to Chabad.
They need it and will accomplish the most with it.
How many Shluchim does he help?
bh
it says in the gemorah rebi mechabed ashirim … yes so we need to give respect to the rich .. and the rebbe did the same.. especially to those that gave and continue to give money to our moisdois..
may he be blessed with a good long live and may he continue in his good ways …

WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE WEALTHY PEOPLE AMONG US. IF HASHEM WANTED US TO BE RICH WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO.
I was just gonna say that
if im not mistaken the yacht is worth over 250 million not 1.5 billion

We all wish we had his money and could donate $5 million to a chabad mosad
Let him live long years and continue to be a baal tzedaka…and it wouldn’t hurt if i could have a little ride on his yacht either….
