Congresswoman Yvette Clarke enjoyed a landslide win over her challengers in Tuesday’s Democratic primary race of New York’s 9th district.
The district includes part of the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Brownsville, Midwood, and Sheepshead Bay.
The district is half African-American and also includes a substantial Orthodox Jewish community, Business Insider noted.
Clarke was challenged by her former rival Adem Bunkeddeko, New York City Councilman Chaim Deutsch and Isiah James. Clake won 62% of the vote, while Bunkeddeko received 17% and Deutsch closed in on 9.44%
In his concession statement, Deutsch said: “Congratulations to Congressmember Yevette Clarke on her presumed win. I am eager to continue working with her to serve our community.
“I am deeply proud to have run a campaign that focused on improving the quality of life of all residents of NY-9. Even while contending with a global pandemic, unrest in the city, and the inability to run a standard campaign, we still managed to get our message out to thousands of voters.”
He did add, “I look forward to seeing the results of the absentee ballot count, which will provide a more accurate picture of the votes cast in this election.”

She is a bitter nasty critic of President Trump – to whom we should be showering thanks for all the good work he is doing plus his support for Israel and fighting anti-Semitism (as much as is one can) Yvetter Clark has supported calls for a 2 State solution – in complete opposition to the Rebbe Shleimus HaAretz directives… Read more »
