On Monday, February 10, Shaloh House in Boston, Massachusetts, hosted an inspiring Yud Shvat gathering celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Rebbe’s leadership with a renowned author and Shliach and author.
The event brought together a truly diverse audience of around 80 participants, including young parents from Shaloh Day School, university students, members of Anash, local shluchim, and bochurim from the Shaloh House Smicha Program.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Dovid Eliezrie, Director of North County Chabad/Congregation Beth Meir HaCohen in Yorba Linda, California, and author of the book The Secret of Chabad.
Rabbi Eliezrie captivated the crowd with a dynamic and engaging speech, focusing on two central themes. He delved into the life and struggles of the Frierdiker Rebbe, detailing his resilience in the face of immense challenges. From narrowly escaping a death sentence under the Soviet regime to enduring Nazi-occupied Poland, and finally arriving in the United States to launch the revolution of “America nisht andersh”, Rabbi Eliezrie painted a vivid picture of the Rebbe’s unwavering commitment to spreading Yiddishkeit in even the most difficult circumstances.
The second part of his talk focused on the unique leadership of the Rebbe. Rabbi Eliezrie shared fascinating stories of the Rebbe’s interactions with three Israeli prime ministers—Ariel Sharon, Yitzchak Rabin, and Benjamin Netanyahu—highlighting the Rebbe’s wisdom, vision, and profound impact on Jewish leadership and world affairs.
The energy in the room was electric, with Rabbi Eliezrie’s speech resonating deeply with attendees. Following the formal talk, the inspiration continued into an informal farbrengen, lasting until 11 PM. Participants eagerly engaged with the speaker, asking questions and discussing the Rebbe’s teachings in a warm and uplifting atmosphere.
A separate children’s program was organized for about 40 children, ensuring that the evening was meaningful for attendees of all ages. Meanwhile, the adults enjoyed an elegant and delicious spread of food, enhancing the evening’s ambiance and fostering lively discussions.
Professor Julia Goldberg, Director of Fundraising and Development at Shaloh House, shared her reflections on the event: “I was truly impressed by Rabbi Eliezrie’s powerful way of delivering his message. The way he personally knew so many historical figures we’ve only seen on TV made the stories come alive.”
Many attendees expressed gratitude to Shaloh House Director Shliach Rabbi Dan Rodkin for organizing such a meaningful event, appreciating both the depth of inspiration and the high level of hospitality.
